Wordless Wednesday: April Bliss

Planting time is finally here, and we’re celebrating spring to its fullest. Out with the old, in with the new! Celebrate April bliss with us. Here’s a look at what we’re growing this week.

Henderson Bush Lima bean
Henderson’s Bush Lima Beans pop up (some a little nibbled) in a patch.
Winnetka Purple artichokes
Winnetka Purple artichokes are in full swing as our second plant produces fruit (it’s really a flower bud, but hey…)
Pomegranate blossom
What? Pomegranates already? The flowers are just appearing.
Sage
A new sage plant graces a container garden with its presence. In with the new!
Apple blossoms
Fuji apple blossoms open up as the weather warms.
Tomato seedlings
Tomato seedlings under grow lights. They get 16 hours of light per day.
blackberry flowers
blackberry flowers appear against the back wall of the garden.
Fish pepper Anaheim pepper
Our Fish pepper babies have a few aphids. We’re checking daily and feeding with worm tea to ward them off.
cilantro calendula
Cilantro flowers are umbels – which attract beneficial insects to the garden. The Test Garden is full of volunteer cilantro right now.
Orange blossoms
Orange blossoms fragrance the air with sweetness. Time to feed these trees.

Get out there and plant something. Enjoy spring as it showcases Mother Nature’s good side.
