It was so thrilling to see the cover of Bolting to Seed on all the big booksellers’ websites yesterday. It feels like a giant sigh of relief and a heart attack at the same time.
The book is done, but that’s not the end of the journey. It’s just like gardening, really. Read on…

In gardening we plant the seed, but it’s not until we see that first sprout that we feel the excitement of the season. And we know that’s just the beginning of the journey. Now it’s time to steward the plant with food and water so it will grow big and strong. Then we can enjoy the harvest and share it with others.
While I admit that marketing my work is my least favorite thing to do (like digging out nutsedge), it’s a necessary step to bring a book to life. So here I am, sharing the harvest: my newest book.

You can pre-order an autographed copy of Bolting to Seed from Gardenerd directly. Or you can get one at your favorite bookseller (links to several are listed on our sales page). As always, I recommend ordering from a local independent bookstore rather than the big A (Bezos doesn’t need your money). Help keep the local economy and small businesses in business. If you don’t see it on your bookseller’s website, request it. It’s available to any bookseller anywhere.
Here’s the official blurb about the book:
Lizzie Raju has “Six Reasons Not to Have Kids.” Finding a corpse in her happy place wasn’t on the list.
It’s been six months since Lizzie married the hunky guy she met at Vista Mar Community Garden and, unfortunately for him, she has six reasons for not wanting kids.
But when a dead body turns up in the tool shed, she has to solve the mystery and save her marriage, or her urban oasis will wither to dust. In Bolting to Seed, Lizzie and the eclectic cast of characters return for another growing season, but in-fighting and the threat of death prevent them from finding peace in gardening. What’s a gardener to do when plants aren’t the only thing dying behind the locked gates at Vista Mar?
Bolting to Seed is a cozy mystery that follows the lives of Lizzie and a diverse group of urban farmers at Vista Mar Gardens, an organic community garden in Los Angeles, CA. You’ll find gardening lessons interwoven with clues as you guess whodunit in this engaging work of women’s fiction.
Special thanks to all my Kickstarter backers who brought this book to life. They’re getting their copies this month, before everyone else. Stay tuned for more news on upcoming launch parties and events.
If you’re looking for an escape from all that’s crazy in this world, Bolting to Seed will fit the bill. Pre-order your copy today!
