Wordless Holiday

The U.S. recently turned 250 years old on this 4th of July holiday, still relatively young as far as countries go. But we celebrated with a meal from the garden: corn, grilled potatoes, and all the fixin’s. Here’s some inspiration from the garden as we celebrate summer’s bountiful harvest.

New Stuff

Volunteer green onions pop up in profusion between older green onions.
Bush lima beans have started sending out flowers and tiny pods
Watermelons have sprouted. They like the warmer part of summer to grow best.
Our yard-long beans have reached the top of their 7-ft trellis

Progress

Our Delicata squash is turning colors.
Santaka peppers stand straight up, which tells us they are a hot pepper. Between 30,000-50,000 Scoville Heat Units
Tomatoes are ready for sandwiches and burgers this holiday and all summer. Find out some of these in our favorites video from last year

The Riff Raff

Olive and Sally-Ann are curious about what the photographer has to offer.
There is a Morning dove next up in the pergola and Mittens knows it.

We hope you enjoyed your 4th of July holiday. Keep gardening through the summer and it will pay off in a bountiful harvest.
