A couple weeks ago I did “gate closing” at my community garden at sunset. The garden doesn’t have any lighting, and is technically a city park, so everyone has to leave by sunset. Gate closers (the official title for the job) lock up the gates after making sure everyone is gone. It gave me a chance to walk through parts of the garden I don’t see very often. Here’s some of the eye candy I saw that week.
Old wheelbarrows dot the landscape, sometimes with a prize inside.Members grow a variety of crops, including this okra plant we spotting along the pathwayAmaranth is beautiful whether you grow it for ornament or for eating. Passion fruit vines climb a post near the meeting area.You can tell that fall is coming when the persimmons start to turn color. These gorgeous beans with their purple flowers caught my eye walking past.All the dragon fruits in the garden are flowering right now. Bananas?! Yeah, these bunnies don’t even try to hide anymore. Malibar spinach is a beautiful perennial spinach when it forms seeds.
After closing the last gate, this was the view on the way out.
