Wordless Wednesday: Fall Harvests and New Beginnings

Fall harvests: fall is upon us and it means we’re harvesting the last of the summer garden to make room for new cool season crops. It’s time to feed the soil, and to coax seed to life once again in warm-winter climates. No rest for the year-round gardener! Here’s some inspiration to keep you going as fall comes on. 

Fuji apple harvest
Our Fuji apple tree has more than recovered from its drowning accident a couple years ago.

Our 2020 honey harvest is smaller than it has been, only 7 frames, but enough for the year ahead and a few gifts.
Row 7 Squashes
Our successful harvest from testing out Row 7 Seeds for Koginut and Delicata squash. They’re both hybrids, so they survived bacterial wilt.

The lettuces are germinating in raised beds. We added cloches to protect them from snackers.
Brassicas under growlights
Brassicas like kale, broccoli, cabbage and more are growing under lights. Soon well thin these down to one plant per pot.
Mittens watching David Attenborough
Mittens is fascinated with the new David Attenborough film “A Life on Our Planet“. Everyone should see this film. The cinematography is incredible and the message is more important now than ever before.
