Wordless Wednesday – Rainy Day Inspiration

There is still heat in the forecast, but this week’s rainy day made me feel eager for real fall weather. Here’s some inspiration to get you through the rest of the month.

Our Brazilian pepper tree is sick and this may be the year we take it down. Sad to see this majestic beauty go. I captured this image while on the roof of the office, cleaning out the rain gutters and removing about 12″ of leaves from the roof.
Volunteer tithonia will bring cheer this winter / spring.
Mint is waking up with the rainy day.
Artichokes are sending out new growth after a summer rest.
Comfrey is flowering now that it has had a good soak from recent rains.
These roses start blooming again every October.
Our loquat tree is in bloom. This fall fruit is delicious and not available in stores because of its delicate nature.
Rain beads up on nasturtium leaves.
The one jicama we grew. It was delicious.
Our first attempt at soda bread. When things are too busy to make sourdough, there is always soda bread. Ready in a couple hours.
The hens are molting (they do every summer) so it looks like a pillow fight in the coop and run.

Keep an eye on your forecast for cooler temperatures. This rainy day was another False Fall (read this blog post for more details on that phenomenon). Stay cool and get ready for fall planting.
