Happy New Year, gardenerds! The 2025 gardening season starts with seed catalogs and big dreams in winter 2024/25.
At the end of January we’ll start tomato seeds indoors for late-March planting (in warm-winter areas). Until then, it’s time to dream big and plan your strategy for spring.
Next week we’ll share some of our new seed picks to try this year. For now, let’s focus on a New Year’s Resolution or two.
New Year’s Resolution #1 – Start Something New
Do you have a project you want to tackle this year? New raised beds? Revamp that irrigation system (or create one)? Try growing from seed? We support you! Let us know what you’re working on in the comments below, so we can help along the way.
Here at Gardenerd you may have noticed a shift toward more social media content and YouTube videos. Along those lines, we’ve begun plans for a new gardening show. It’s still early (though the pitch is outlined with 12 episodes for the first 2 seasons), but we’re excited to dedicate focus on this new project in 2025. Stay tuned as things progress.
New Year’s Resolution #2 – Nurture Something Old(er)
Do you have an old tree or shrub that needs some love? Or maybe you’re feeling a little creaky yourself (*raises hand*). Let’s make 2025 the year of CARE. Care for self, care for the elders in our community, and care for our gardens.
Personally I plan to focus more on my own physical health. The last few years have taken their toll and it’s time for me to step away from the computer and get more exercise, hands-on gardening time, and heck, just get that heart rate up every day.
What do you plan to nurture in 2025? Share it in the comments.
Whether you set New Year’s Resolutions or not, take some time to evaluate how things are going, and what you’d like to reach for this year. As the saying goes: make your plans concrete, achievable, and consistent. Let’s make this a happy new year and do this together!
