Wordless Wednesday: Signs of Spring

With recent rain storms, the garden is going gangbusters. Signs of spring are everywhere. Here’s some inspiration for what is to come regardless of whether you’re gardening now, or your garden is knee deep under snow.

Our pomegranate tree leafed out this week. So exciting!
Wordless Wednesday Cover Crop Turned
We cut down our cover crop, chopped it up, and covered it with compost. It will be ready to plant 3 weeks later.
Wordless Wednesday Pruned blackberries
It’s pruning time for blackberries and raspberries. We removed all dead canes, and cut back all other canes to 4′.
Wordless Wednesday loquats
Loquats hang from the tree. They will ripen in late spring.
Wordless Wednesday Jerusalem sage
Jerusalem sage flowers welcome guests.
Wordless Wednesday arugula flowers
Arugula bolts to seed after a long winter growing season. We’ll sow more while the weather is still cool.
Wordless Wednesday eggs
Two of our hens have started laying again for the year.

The Navel orange tree starts to blossom again. Time to feed and prune if you haven’t already!
Wordless Wednesday apple blossom
The Fuji apple tree shows signs of spring with one blossom.
Wordless Wednesday rosemary
Bees visit this rosemary bush as it flowers.

Enjoy this early time as spring comes on. Throw down wildflower seeds, start seeds indoors for spring crops, prune fruit trees before the bud out. Spring is just around the corner!

    No spring here yet, we are buried under snow….but the seedlings are started and forced bulbs ready to flower in the kitchen!!
