Field Trip: Borough Market, London

Last week I was in the UK and made a stop at Borough Market in London. It’s a bustling farmers market that draws tourists and locals alike.

Shoppers can find just about anything at Borough Market, from produce vendors to cheese mongers, and spices to baked goods. No wonder it was packed on the Tuesday morning.

Borough Market was established in 1758 and thrives today.
Fall crops: Pumpkins, cabbages and potatoes were for sale at vendors throughout the market.
Strawberries, other berries and tropical fruits on display in one stall.
Yes, you can even buy a whole jackfruit if you want.
Folks lined up for vegetarian mushroom risotto cooked in giant paella pans. Street food is a big draw the Bourough Market.
Mushrooms were easy to acquire at this market.
Burough Market also houses cheese vendors.
…and spices, vinegars, and more.

We wanted to get a famous cheese toastie from Kappacasein but they weren’t open on Tuesdays. So we ate a progressive lunch of chips (fries with truffle oil and parm), Thai noodles, and giant soft pretzels. All available at the market.
