1. March in the Garden – Spring Means New Life

I, for one, am grateful for spring right now. We could all use a little more sunshine, the intoxicating scent of blooming flowers, and the hope of new life. Spring brings with it a renewed sense of adventure, experimentation, and the promise of bigger harvests from the garden. They don’t call it spring fever for nothing.

In the Gardenerd Test Garden, we’re harvesting potatoes, sweet peas, shelling peas, carrots, broccoli, and salad greens. We’re turning stinging nettles into soups and stews. Now is a good time to weed and put down fresh mulch if recent rains triggered millions of sprouts in your garden. It’s also time to fertilize fruit trees if they are budding out. Soon we’ll be clearing beds to make room for warm/hot weather crops. And if you need a little help planning your spring garden, we’ve got a course for that.

In this newsletter, you’ll find our latest video about cool-climate tomato varieties, and tomato growing tips. Plus, I want to personally invite you to come celebrate my new book with me in person on April 6th at 3 p.m. See more details below.

Happy gardening,

Christy
