1. February in the Garden – A Garden Loves You Back
Valentine’s / Galentine’s Day may have come and gone, but there’s still love coming from the garden. And it is reciprocal. We love our gardens, and can’t wait to plant them this spring. We show our love by starting seeds indoors, growing cover crops, and mulching the soil to keep beneficial microbes fed and happy. Soon we will reap the benefits.
Here at Gardenerd HQ, we’re harvesting beets, carrots, radishes, lettuces and other salad greens. We’re picking peas, dill, chives, oregano, kale, broccoli, Swiss chard, and stinging nettles. As space opens up in raised beds, there is room to sow more quick crops (salad greens, cilantro, root veggies), or hold off for warm and hot-season crops next month. If you haven’t planned your garden on paper yet, check out our online course on the subject.
In this newsletter, you’ll find our latest video – an explainer of why we hill up potatoes. Plus, Save The Date to come celebrate with me!
Happy gardening,
Christy
